For a long time, the support my family needed simply didn't exist.
So, I created The Village Well

Meet Ed Center
The Village Well Founder
I was a kid with big feelings and big behaviors that adults found hard to manage. Now I know this was connected to undiagnosed ADHD. Now I work with parents, teachers, youth serving organizations, and other kid-facing professionals to support kids with behaviors like mine.
I started my career as a high school teacher, and have worked in education for over 30 years. In 2020, one of my sons experienced a mental health crisis. Despite all my experience, I didn’t have the skills to navigate this. I reached out to therapists, parenting coaches, doctors, and the counsel they provided was inadequate. I needed tools that worked for the emergency we were in! I also wanted support that was culturally relevant, and that dealt with my own triggers. I really struggled to stay calm during my kiddo’s explosive episodes. I spent two years searching and studying to find solutions that worked for us.
What We Do
The Village Well provides knowledge and tools to educators, youth-serving organizations, and families who support children with disabilities. Our promise is to bring more calm, joy, and meaning into this work.
We focus on preventing and addressing challenging behaviors so that both adults and kids can focus on learning and play.
Most of our work focuses on supporting children and youth with the following disabilities:
Autism Spectrum
Sensory Processing Challenges
Trauma
How We Work
We work with schools, nonprofits, preschools, early childhood education, and government organizations to equip parents and professionals with the skills to prevent and address challenging behaviors, reduce burnout, and ensure that children with diverse needs can fully participate and thrive.
Mental Health Challenges
ADHD
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, The Village Well is expanding nationally to meet the growing demand for compassionate, effective support.
